MLTAV Seeding Grants for Language Kits and Trails PDF Print E-mail
1. PURPOSE
The seeding grants are for the purpose of promoting the teaching and learning of Modern Languages in Victoria through the development or updating of Language Kits and Trails.
2. FINANCES and TIMELINE
a. MLTAV will award a maximum of 10 seeding grants, each up to $2,500, in the period August 2008 to July 2009. In this period only one kit or trail will be funded for any one language.

b. All kits and trails are expected to be finalized for use at the start of the 2010 school year.

c. A seeding grant will be paid in 2 instalments, one marking an agreed stage of development, the other marking completion of the project.
3. SUGGESTIONS FOR KITS AND TRAILS
a. The kits and trails may be developed in conjunction with the Melbourne Zoo, the National Gallery of Victoria, Sovereign Hill, the Immigration Museum, ScienceWorks and other such organizations with strong educational programs; heritage kits; historical trails.

b. Kits and trails may be in the form of hard-copy or in electronic form (including online).

4. SINGLE LANGUAGE ASSOCIATION (SLA) INVOLVEMENT
a. Project proposals for kits and trails must be approved by an MLTAV-accredited SLA. In the case of a kit or trail which is developed or updated in conjunction with another organization, the SLA may act as the official partner for the organisation.

b. Due recognition will be given of the financial support given by the MLTAV.

5. PROJECT PROPOSALS will be submitted on a pro-forma developed by the MLTAV and contain the following information:
a. Brief description of project, including benefits to the teaching and learning of the Language.

b. Timeline and deliverables (products and/or services).

c. Budget.

d. Process of reporting on progress to MLTAV.

6. APPROVAL PROCESS
a. MLTAV will award a grant, following consideration and approval of the project proposal (as outlined above) by the MLTAV Committee of Management, as the proposal is received, i.e. there is no deadline for proposals.

b. In the events that a proposal is not approved by the MLTAV Committee of Management, the SLA involved will be contacted to explain the reasons for non-approval and given an opportunity for resubmission of an amended proposal.
